ASO welcomes new CEO

The ASO is pleased to announce that Kerstin Baas has been appointed as the Society's new CEO.

Originally from Hamburg in northern Germany, Kerstin has extensive experience in Strategy, Marketing and Operations and has spent over half of her career in the healthcare sector, ranging from multinationals such as Johnson & Johnson Orthopaedics, to privately held companies in the reproductive services space and medical research.

She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is passionate about the health sector, achieving good outcomes for patients and thoroughly enjoys working with healthcare professionals.

Prior to joining the ASO, Kerstin was Chief Commercial Officer at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, a not-for-profit organisation focused on sleep and breathing disorders. Her role and responsibilities were very broad, ranging from day-to-day operations of running a medical clinic, supporting 55 clinicians including dentists and over 100 world class researchers. She was directly responsible for financial, risk and crisis management, stakeholder management through to marketing, profile raising and education of the general public and healthcare providers.

"I have experienced first-hand the impact that the NFP sector has and I enjoy applying my business acumen in this space. I believe that my broad skill set is a good match for the ASO and I'm looking forward to understanding and tackling the issues that are high on the agenda for the Society and its members in an ever-changing environment," Ms Baas said.
