Give a Smile (GAS) is a valuable public health initiative established by the ASO
GAS means hundreds of children in lower income families for whom professional orthodontic treatment would otherwise be out of reach are treated in private practices and are removed from public health waiting lists. At present there are more than 350 Give a Smile orthodontists right across Australia – from Bunbury to Cairns and in between – offering their unique skills to children in need. The impressive support level of more than 65 per cent of all ASO orthodontists has resulted in a massive 10 per cent reduction in public orthodontic waiting lists nationally.
We’re here to bring a confident smile to the faces of children in lower income families for whom professional orthodontic treatment would normally be out of reach.
Give a Smile has been developed so that orthodontists can give back to the community in a simple and effective way, by delivering their special expertise to those who would normally not be able to afford it.
How it works
Each Give a Smile orthodontist welcomes at least one patient per year into his/her practice. All work undertaken for every Give a Smile patient is done pro-bono and with the highest level of care and professionalism.
