ASO (NSW) Orthodontic Trust Fund

The University of Sydney Vice Chancellor, President of the Orthodontic Trust Fund and the Dean of Dentistry agree on a new five-year funding proposal for orthodontic education at The University of Sydney

In 1993 the ASO (NSW) Branch created a charitable trust with the purpose of funding a Chair in Orthodontics at The University of Sydney and supporting the funding of academic staff in NSW and the ACT.

The original fund was seeded by the donation at the time of $10,000 from each ASO Orthodontist in NSW and the ACT.  The Chair in Orthodontics was created in 1995 and continues to underpin orthodontic education as well as provide a valuable source of care for the disadvantaged children of NSW.

The fund has been supported since inception through the generous corporate support of the Colgate-Palmolive and Henry Schein Halas companies and the annual donation by the majority of NSW and ACT members through the Case for the Future Program and the VIP Program.

As of January 2005 the Trust has donated more than $2.5 million to orthodontic education and was recognised in 2013 with its induction into The University of Sydney’s prestigious ‘Founders Circle’ in recognition of it long and generous support for education.

Thank you to all who have contributed to the ASO (NSW) Orthodontic Trust Fund.
